Whilst I’m still editing photos from my first mandala to create my first slideshow/ video (exciting!) here is my second mandala vinyl, completed and in progress.
Hand-drawn/ hand-painted mandala 12″ vinyl record art. All totally free hand.
With the mandala painting I decided to experiment with one of my favourite colour palettes, even though it’s very different from my super bright garish colours! – delicious teal, mustard, and what I call “Berlin green”, as when I lived in Berlin this shade of green was EVERYWHERE!! The exact shades were really difficult to capture on camera as the real version is more vibrant than this. Here is the completed mandala:
I draw the mandala totally free-hand with a light pencil and then paint it from the centre outwards. It’s a super relaxing process and I love watching it unfold into a kaleidoscopic pattern of delicious colour! A meditative and creative practise all in one ❤
I love photographing each stage and seeing it develop.
My mandala vinyl record art is available to buy! Each vinyl is a truly original piece of art and will never be replicated! Prints will be available very soon on 12″ x 12″ paper.

Recently, whilst on a yoga retreat just outside Toulouse I discovered the art of drawing mandalas and immediately fell in love. Often struggling to stay present I discovered that this practise helps me shut out both inside and outside noise. It seems to create order amidst chaos and transforms frustration into relaxation. Each seemingly random shape and loop I draw comes together into an ordered, kaleidoscopic symmetry. Of all the things I’ve tried to quiet my mind this is definitely my new favourite.
The mandalas started as black and white doodles in my notebook with a biro and plain paper. It wasn’t until the end of my retreat that it occurred to me I could paint multi-coloured versions on 12″ vinyl records! So here is the very first one ❤
Throughout the process of painting the mandala I photographed every single step, with the intention of making my very first time lapse/ slide show of my work in progress. I’m currently in the photo-editing phase, but the mandala video should be ready very soon! Here are a few of the photos I took showing the process.
The mandala was hand-drawn and hand-painted on a 12″ vinyl record, completely from scratch. No rulers or other measuring devices, so I’m hoping the slight asymmetry is charming!
All the colours – teal, fuchsia and red – as well as the white embellishments and a black outline were all completed with my favourite ever, now discontinued (!) brush – Loew cornell Flora 0.
This piece of vinyl record art is indeed for sale! And giclee prints are coming very soon. I’m currently finishing off my second mandala vinyl (pics very soon!!) and excited to start my third.

Until next time,
Currently in the process of updating my product photography to fall in line with this modern Instagram trend! I’ve always liked stark white backgrounds to highlight my work but now experimenting with warmer, cosier context shots. This more ‘human’ touch seems to be more appealing, as it allows people to imagine what my items would look like in their homes. What do you think? xx http://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/LiviLollipopShop
Probably the thing I love most about what I do is learning why someone bought a particular piece from me. The story behind the art. Chelsea Gurss, the lady who bought my beetroot vinyl, wrote to me and I just loved her story so much! … “I am so excited to get this. It is for my husband’s birthday. He does this thing when a book has touched him in a certain way. He wants a piece of art work to remember the book. He just read Tom Robbin’s Jitterbug Perfume and beets get left on people’s doorsteps. So, I couldn’t think of a better beet piece of art then this. There was a lot of lame beet paintings out there. Thank you for making an awesome one”. ….. “We love our piece. It fits perfectly in our house. Thank you so much.”
And here it is, hanging on the wall in their home in Texas, USA!!
