Mandala inspired body art

Having spent the last couple of months painting mandalas on vinyl records, I’ve been inspired to introduce this style into my face painting doodles. I tend to paint my arms and legs when I’m at an event and it’s reeeeeally quiet! Here’s an arm and a leg I painted recently.

I used the same colour combination on both designs as I just love this contrast! (Need to try with a different combo next time!) These are homemade one strokes with all TAG colours except Cameleon Bollywood pink.

Teaching my very first face painting workshop!!

Last month I taught my first ever workshop. I was invited to be 1 of 2 tutors at Face Paint BOOTCAMP – an incredible, intensive one day training session in Belfast, Northern Ireland, organised by Stacey Kilpatrick of S.A.K. Designs. 30 participants were divided into 2 groups for two back-to-back 3 hour workshops (with a lovely leisurely lunch in between!) It was an absolute honour and privilege to be ‘billed’ alongside the phenomenal Teresa Mullin.

Leading up to the workshop I was so so nervous! I’d never taught before and always dismissed it as something beyond my capabilities. Every time I thought about it I felt sick with nerves, terrified I’d be no good! BUT somehow I managed to ignore those voices of crippling self-doubt and I DID IT and I loved it!! The feedback given afterwards was amazing and unbelievably heart-warming (see below photos), proving that my nerves were totally unfounded. I couldn’t have hoped for a more wonderful, positive first experience of teaching 😀

❤ Rainbow arm art ❤

Rainbows are quite possibly my favourite thing to paint! I love to improvise and create unique different designs on the spot. Here are two fairly recent creations.

The left was a girl at a Pride event.
The right was a little boy who wanted me to paint his dreams being eaten by nightmares!!

Face and Body art @ Leicester Uni

Photos from last years Freshers’ Fair, a little belatedly! Arm painting is always massively popular at the University – I’m told it’s a welcome, creative and colourful juxtaposition to business and law lectures 🙂 Looking forward to several more dates at the uni coming up – watch this space for photos!
